With this stand a retailer can display our tiles to their best. There is a workstation area to play with the colours of tiles available in the draws below. Royce Wood have a new way to display their tiles other than display boards a 10.4" digital photoframe. The digital photoframe comes preloaded with a collection of tiles, display boards and in-situ shots to give you the most up-to-date photographs of our fantastic range of handmade tiles and borders. We are also investigating a download facility so that new pictures can be loaded into the digital photoframe on a regular basis. Royce Wood have moved to: The Wheelhouse, Amber Mill, Oakerthorpe, Alfreton, Derbyshire, DE55 7LL This is to allow the company to grow and to have our own dedicated display and sales area to cater for the increasing interest in our handmade tiles and products.

Royce Wood handmade tiles are a truly green product. The clay is bought locally in Derbyshire and Staffordshire along with the high quality glazes. Not one single tile in our whole range is imported.

The Royce Wood designer have come up with a new mosaic format "Crazy Mosaic Tiles". These will come in all sorts of different colours with the first collection call Natural. If you have a colour combination that this format would suite please give us a ring to discuss your requirements.

	Over the last couple of years the tendency from kitchen designers and kitchen manufacturers was to go with a minimalist approach. This had the effect of damping down the colours within the kitchen. However, recently more vibrant colours have come back into fashion as designers and customers are wanting a more inspiring place to cook and socialise.
With Royce Wood handmade tiles you can create this space very easily with a vibrant artistic splash. This can be done by creating splash backs and colourful borders to lift the more bland colours within modern kitchens. We are certainly seeing a lot of interest in this area with people wanting to lift their spirits with a splash of colour.

One idea that a number of customers have adopted is to create a border above the worktop surface of around 3-4 tiles high. This has two benefits the first is to create a pleasing border that creates a point of interest and secondly practically protects your walls from everyday kitchen spills. With Royce Woods tile planner you can mix and match your tiles to get the effect you want. Very often though a single tile like in photograph opposite will create a very pleasing effect as all Royce Wood handmade tiles are all slightly different.

 

Royce Wood today released the new Mosaic Tile 50mm x 50mm. The Mosaic Tile comes in the standard range of colours. This tile can be used in all sorts of areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, showers and floors. We have also noticed with this mosaic tile that the depth of colour is actually increased. Today Royce Wood released the Beta Version of Tile Designer. This is a replacement for the old Tile Designer. It has now a complete set of tiles to choose from including decor tiles. With designer you can select your pallette and lay out the tiles more efficiently.

Put some real colour into your borders with the new Salsa Mosaic mix.

Royce Wood recommend good quality grouts that contain the Microban product which provides continuous antibacterial and antifungal protection. This helps stop mildew and other mould buildup and so keeps your grout and tiles in top condition.  Examples of good quality grouts come from companies such as BAL and Mapei.

A good quality grout will not only come in many different colours to complement your Royce Wood tiles it will also give a superior smooth finish that is consistent in colour.

Always check with you tile installer as to what grout they are going to use. A little bit more spent on the right products can make a huge difference in the look and maintenance of the product in the future. I

To see the true colours of Royce Wood handmade tiles it is often advisable to order a sample tiles. These can then be used to check the colours against the area you are planning to put the tile be this a kitchen, bathroom or pool area.

Royce Wood Handmade Tiles is very interested in working with an American tile distributor. Please contact us if you feel you could successfully distribute and sell our products. We have sold in small volumes to the USA before however the demand for the products is definitely there in quantity with over 25% of  roycewood.com websites coming from the USA.

Royce Wood Handmade Tiles is pleased to have been nominated for one of the prestigious 2006 Tile Association awards: Wall Tile Of The Year. Judging is currently taking place by an independent panel of judges with results announced in June.

The reason is in the handmade process as to how the glaze is applied and the method of firing. This gives the tiles their beautiful detail. All this give the tiles is a fantastic artistic quality at the micro level.   more »

Royce Wood handmade tiles can be used on floors. The tiles that are particularly suited to this are the matt and satin tiles such as wheat, ember and crater. The high gloss tiles can be used as well but more suited to borders where there is less foot traffic across them which can result in scratches. Please phone the studio for advice.

In the June 2006 edition of BBC Homes & Antiques the dragonfly tile is featured.

Royce Wood Limited glazes are hand applied and variations in colour and texture can occur. These suble nuances help create the character and charm of the tiles. Although individual tiles convey the general colour, slight variations in tone between tiles may exist.

An additional benefit of the tiles is that all four edges are glazed and so eliminates the need for tile trims. Royce Wood takes pride in producing the finest quality handmade tiles. If any tile is found to have a serious defect the studio will be pleased to provide a replacement.
